Chamber to Host Independent Health Forum
On October 25, 2010, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce will host a forum with Independent Health. David Donovan, Vice President of Sales, and Roberta Rifkin, Vice President of Government Affairs, will speak about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and how it will affect you during the next few years.
David will speak about the new small business tax credit. Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, small businesses may be eligible for a tax credit to provide health care benefits to employees. The tax credit is effective immediately and can cover up to 35 percent of the premiums a small business pays to cover its workers. David will also cover eligibility requirements, credit amounts and the long term outlook for this tax credit.
Roberta will speak about the important provisions that went into effect on September 23, which marked the six-month anniversary of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. She will talk about dependent coverage up to age 26, no denial of coverage for children, no annual dollar limits and $0 copayments for preventive services. Roberta will be able to answer any questions you might have pertaining to the new legislation.
This is another way that the Chamber helps its members expand their circle of influence. We understand that the Healthcare Reform can be confusing and hope this forum will answer some of your questions.
