Open Enrollment- What Should You Do?

Open Enrollment has begun and is the annual window that allows you to make changes to your insure coverage.

The Amherst Chamber of Commerce understands how confusing health insurance can be and wants to provide you with the necessary information to help you make the right decision for your needs.

If you are considering moving to another plan, now is the time to do so. All changes need to be made and returned to our office by Friday December 10, 2010 at 4pm.

Now is the perfect time to review your current plan and make sure you are covered for any needs you or your family may have.  If you do not utilize your benefits, you may consider enrolling in a High Deductible plan and saving money on a quarterly premium.  This plan, when paired with a Health Savings Account, could help you save hundreds of dollars over the course of the year.

Starting next year, dependents up-to age 26 are eligible under their parents' policies, per the changes in Healthcare Reform.  Dependents do not need to live with you nor do they need to be full time students.  In order to add your dependent, you will need to complete an employee application in our office by the December 10th deadline.

In the upcoming week, current Chamber subscribers will be mailed an informational packet outlining the 2011 health insurance plans. The packet will explain the actions you need to take to ensure that you are covered on January 1, 2011.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Additional information will be available on our website as well as at educational sessions hosted several times in the chamber offices. For a complete list of dates for the informational sessions and to register, please click here.
