A NOTE FROM CO-CHAIRMAN MARK WALTER
It is no secret that Western New York has a reputation for being a small town where, in the business community, everyone knows everyone. As a young professional, I struggled with how to break into that professional and social climate. I attended a variety of networking events and business development seminars, but still faced the challenge of how to effectively network with my peers, as well as, established leaders in our community.
When I was asked to become a member of The Amherst Chamber of Commerce Emerging Business Leaders Advisory Board, I was thrilled at the prospect of having a conduit to meet other future leaders. Most exciting was attending the"Food for Thought" program, which affordes our group the opportunity to enjoy an informal meal with some of Western New York's most influential CEOs and Executives.
The Emerging Business Leaders Advisory Board is committed to providing the opportunity to develop skills, become involved in the business community, and build relationships. I make sure to mark my calendar on the first Wednesday of each month, knowing another quality networking event is in store. 2011 and beyond is packed with networking events; speaker series and professional development seminars, each sure to bring value to those attending.
