Chamber Honors Urban Valet Dry Cleaners
Each quarter, the Amherst Chamber's Business Resource Council recognizes one member business for an outstanding achievement, success or work within the community with the Member Success Showcase Award. This quarter, the council is recognizing Urban Valet Dry Cleaners for their charitable work throughout the region as well as their efforts to make dry-cleaning more "green."
Urban Valet was opened in 1995 by siblings Eric and Christine Pyne, providing wholesale shirt services to existing dry cleaners. A few years later, Urban Valet Dry Cleaners was born after the company moved into complete dry cleaning services. Since then, Urban Valet has grown tremendously due to its commitment to customer service, quality and the community.
Urban Valet recently partnered with Great Erie Federal Credit Union to collect over 50 pairs of eyeglasses and cases which were donated to Jesse's Children Health Mission, an organization that brings groups of volunteers to the Dominican Republic where doctors, dentists and optometrists tend to the people of the Dominican using donated supplies such as the eyeglasses collected by Urban Valet Dry Cleaners.
Continuing their theme of giving back to the community, Urban Valet has participated for the past two years in Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon's Prom Dress Drive. More than 600 gently used prom and bridesmaid dresses were collected over a two week period this year. Urban Valet Dry Cleaners then cleaned every dress for free, making sure they were ready for the big night.
As a dry cleaning company, Urban Valet takes environmental issues seriously. They work hard to reduce their carbon footprint and as a result have created a GreenClean program to protect the environment, community, their customers and employees. In 2010 Urban Valet became the first and only dry cleaner in WNY to offer The Green Garmento reusable garment bag. They also now professionally wet clean 60% of the clothes they process with a non-toxic, more energy efficient technology.
Urban Valet has three retail locations in Western New York as well as seven delivery routes that serve customers from Eden/Angola to Clarence. To learn more about Urban Valet Dry Cleaners, please visit their website by clicking here.
