Senator Maziarz Visits the Amherst Chamber
Earlier this month, New York State Senator George Maziarz met with leaders of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce to discuss the wrap-up of the 2011 Legislative Session and the many energy issues that passed both houses. In addition to being the Senior Senator of the Western New York Delegation, Senator Maziarz is also the Chairman of the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee and has a unique insight into the energy issues affecting business owners throughout the State.
Senator Maziarz spoke to the Chamber's Board of Directors and Public Affairs Council on issues such as Recharge NY,Article 10 and NYSUNY 2020, many of which are items included in the Chamber's 2011 Legislative Agenda. Senator Maziarz also spoke at length about NYPA and the Niagara Power Project.
Senator Maziarz began his career in government in 1978 as the North Tonawanda City Clerk. He was elected to the New York State Senate in 1995. During his career, Senator Maziarz has been associated with many landmark pieces of legislation, including "Megan's Law" and the Assisted Living Reform Act. In addition to his chairmanship, he also serves on the Rules, Environmental Conservation, Crime Victims, Crime & Corrections, Transportation and Higher Education committees.
