MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
THE CHAMBER VALUES SMALL BUSINESSES
The Amherst Chamber of Commerce recognizes the value of small business to our regional economy. While we categorize small business as those with less than 25 employees, we have a large contingent of members with less than five employees. This demographic continues to grow and continues to join our ranks to take advantage of the programs and services we offer to help them succeed. Our Business Resource Council (BRC) has reorganized for the purpose of identifying strategic objectives for the current and upcoming years that respond to the ever-changing needs of small business.
By expanding access to capital, mentoring, entrepreneurial education, connectivity, and collaboration, the BRC is positioned to be the go-to group for our members to accomplish their goals and increase their competitiveness and profits. Any member of the Chamber with a workforce of approximately 25 or fewer, or a firm that focuses on the small business customer can join the BRC. There is no additional cost but there are certainly additional benefits. As a BRC member, you will be on our communications distribution list and receive invitations to quarterly events, Business After Hours, Ribbon Cuttings and Grand Openings, and in the near future, our quarterly newsletter. Additionally, you will be invited to participate in our Focus Groups, designed to assist us in the development of new and creative programs and services.
The Business Resource Council is led by an Advisory Board, made up of business representatives from a diverse group of industries. Tim Kwiatowski (Bank of Akron), serves as chairman, and is currently accepting applications from interested individuals. All members in good standing will be considered. Forward letters of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Small Business Awards Luncheon and Showcase being held Friday, May 20th at Samuel's Grande Manor is our opportunity to salute the small businesses who have achieved success, given back to the community and exemplify the attributes firms of all size hope to emulate. This event continues to grow as the community recognizes that together we can assist one another in starting, managing and expanding our businesses. The Amherst Chamber of Commerce and our Business Resource Council provides the forums and the connectivity to achieve these goals. Due to member demand, we have increased the capacity for the showcase. If you are interested in a showcase table contact Kaitlin at email@example.com for information.
