MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Well, we ended January with a bang!  Over 300 business and community leaders attended our Annual Luncheon and were in attendance as Congressman Brian Higgins installed our 2016 Board of Directors.  Town of Amherst Supervisor Barry Weinstein didn't disappoint with his State of the Town Address and our Public Policy Agenda was unveiled. The staff is back in the office with no time to celebrate our huge success Friday as we are all busy planning for THE EVENT!

THE EVENT, formerly the Business of the Year Dinner, is being held February 22nd at Adam's Mark Hotel.  We were forced to move it out of Amherst because of our large anticipated attendance.  But, it also plays well to our theme of One Buffalo.  As I stated in my remarks at the Annual Luncheon, the Chamber continues to focus much of our attention to the town of Amherst but also recognizes that to flourish and grow our prosperity, we must think as a region.  Certainly, each community has its own personality but the revitalization of our urban core is benefiting us all.  Our membership represents over 100 zip codes from the Buffalo Niagara region and our reputation for collaboration has been the impetus for this diverse growth.

Our Business of the Year is Pegula Sports and Entertainment, PS&E.  Terry and Kim Pegula and their investment in our region have been game changers.  Because of their actions, we know the Bills and the Sabres will stay in Buffalo.  But, PS&E is about much more than goals and touchdowns.  They have made a major to economic development and are growing jobs and opportunities for our residents.

You should have received your invitation to The Event last week which includes information on all of our awardees.  Please note that we have changed the format also.  The Event begins with a two hour open bar and networking.  With such a large, diverse crowd of regional decision makers, CEO's and Young Professionals, we wanted to make sure all attendees had an opportunity to connect with one another.  Rather than a formal sit down dinner, we are featuring food stations with assorted selections from regional iconic restaurants.  The program will NOT include long speeches. Instead we are featuring videos and short q and a's with award winners.  And, all of this will be followed by more networking and dessert and coffee.  This is an EVENT you don't want to miss!

Call us at 632-6905 or go to www.amherst.org for more information.  I look forward to seeing you at The Event!
