AMHERST CHAMBER ADDS MEDICARE TO ITS INSURANCE OFFERINGS
The Amherst Chamber of Commerce Insurance Division has added Medicare Health Insurance to its benefit packages for Chamber members. Amherst is the only Chamber in the region to operate an independent insurance brokerage as part of its organization. It was created in response to businesses from across the region that communicated their concern over the escalating costs and confusion surrounding employee health insurance.
All three major carriers; Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Independent Health and Univera are available through the Chamber. Small businesses and sole proprietors have their choice of any plan available in the marketplace. Additionally, the Chamber can offer individual plans to each employee, precluding an employer from the challenge of selecting a single coverage that meets the needs of all of their employees, at no additional cost to the employer.
The addition of Medicare plans was market driven. More and more individuals are continuing to work after the age of 65 when they are Medicare eligible. Our in-house staff brokers can assist the employer and employee in understanding eligibility requirements, penalties for non-compliance and plan designs.
The Amherst Chamber, the largest in the region, serves firms representing over 70 zip codes across Western New York. For more information, go to www.amherst.org or call Katy Murray at 632-6905.
