Chamber Spotlight: ProNet
When Chamber staff meets with new and potential members, one of the first things they ask for is opportunities for networking. At the end of the day, people want to do business with people they know. As Chamber President Colleen DiPirro likes to say, building strong business relationships allows members to either make a buck or save a buck.
One of the ways the Chamber assists its members in networking with other members is through our professional networking groups, ProNet. The Chamber has four groups that meet on a twice-monthly basis, allowing participants to promote themselves and their business. Each ProNet group provides a forum for business members to expand the market base for their product or service through networking. Last year, one of the Chamber's ProNet groups did over $100,000 worth of business with each other!
Each ProNet group is industry exclusive, meaning if you're a lawyer, there won't be another lawyer in the group to
compete with you for business.
In each group, you'll find members from both large and small businesses. Many of our small business members use ProNet's as a place to expand their list of business contacts, while our large businesses often contract with group members to provide products or services at a lower cost than they might find elsewhere.
The Amherst Chamber's ProNet groups are a fantastic way to get to know other Chamber members in a casual setting that promotes business and develops relationships. It is important to note that ProNet is not a tips & leads club, however exchanging referrals is an important component of each group. Active and regular participation is encouraged in order to get the most out of membership in a group.
ProNet groups meet twice a month on a set schedule. There are groups that meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, the 2nd and 4th Tuesday, the 2nd and 4th Wednesday or the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Most groups contain an average of 30 participants. ProNet groups are always looking for new members and some in-demand professions groups are currently looking for include: P&C insurance agents, hair dressers, health/medical providers, and manufacturers.
So how do you join? It's easy! Just fill out an application form and return to Kim Whelan. The Chamber will review your application and place you in the appropriate group based on schedule and industry availability. Because all ProNet groups are industry exclusive, there may be a waiting list for certain industries.
