2013 Annual Luncheon Includes Board Installation
On Friday, January 18, 2013 the Amherst Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2013 Annual Luncheon at Classics V Banquet Center on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst. Registration will begin at 11:30 am and the lunch program will start promptly at 12:00 noon. The Chamber's Annual Luncheon features the State of the Town Address by Amherst Supervisor Barry Weinstein, the swearing-in of the 2013 Board of Directors by New York State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer and the presentation of the Chamber's 2013 Legislative Agenda.
David Donovan, Vice President of Sales at Independent Health, will be installed as Chairman of the 2013 Board of Directors along with the entire 43 member Board. Additional officers include Earl Wells, III of e3communications - First Vice Chair and Chair of the Public Affairs Council; Richard Cahlstadt of M&T Bank - Treasurer; and David Flynn, Partner with Phillips Lytle LLP - Immediate Past Chair. Amherst Town Supervisor Dr. Barry Weinstein will continue the annual tradition of presenting the State of the Town of Amherst Address at the luncheon. Dr. Weinstein's report on the work of the Town Board, under his leadership, on behalf of the taxpayers of Amherst is always of great interest to not only the members of the Amherst Chamber, but the community as a whole. The chamber looks forward to once again collaborating with Supervisor Weinstein on the important issues facing the Town of Amherst in 2013.
Also at the 2013 Annual Luncheon, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce will unveil our 2013 Legislative Agenda. With a membership in excess of 2,700, the Amherst Chamber has the ability to impact policy and collaborate with our partners to ensure that the organization's voice and positions are heard by public decision makers. The agenda identifies regional, state, federal and local priorities for 2013. The 2013 Legislative Agenda include positions on the following items: Affordable Care Act Excise Tax; NYS Health Mandates Review; Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus; School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Move; Hydropower Proceeds; State Energy Policy/Natural Gas Exploration; Adaptive Re-Use Legislation; Center of Excellence in Materials Informatics; One Region Forward; Post Production/Animation/Visual Effects Industry Development; UB Capital Funding; Private Public Partnerships for UB; Wage Theft Protection; Thruway Canal Corporation Legislation.
