Foreign Exchange Students Looking for Job Shadowing Opportunities

From time to time, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce is contacted by local high school teachers looking for job shadowing opportunities for students.  While the Chamber does not have a formal program for this, we are always glad to help prevent further brain drain from the area by exposing high school students to the many opportunities in WNY available to them after college.

Recently, the Chamber was contacted by a teacher at Amherst High School regarding a unique job shadowing request.  From October 11th - 22nd, Amherst High School will be hosting 18 exchange students from Norway.  The high school is looking for local professionals interested in allowing these visiting students the opportunity to shadow them for a day.

By hosting a foreign exchange student, you can help open our region to a global network of future young professionals.  One day, they may fondly remember the time they spent job shadowing a Western New York business and decide that this is where they want to locate, not New York City, Los Angeles or some other large metropolitan area.  This October, you can help to promote the City of Good Neighbors internationally by hosting Amherst High School's 18 foreign exchanges students for a day of learning and development at your business.

Any interested professionals looking for more information or interested in allowing a student to shadow them, please contact Sean Smith of Amherst High School at smiths1@arps.org or 716.362.1929.
