Open Enrollment Provides Options for Chamber Members

The annual open enrollment period for the Amherst Chamber of Commerce's medical plans is slated to begin on November 10, 2011 and run until December 15, 2011.  All chamber members and their employees are eligible to take advantage of our plans during this time frame.  This is significant since members are only eligible to enroll or change their coverage at this time each year.

The Amherst Chamber's medical plans allow for flexibility and freedom for groups of all sizes.  Sole proprietors are able to take advantage of lower group rates, instead of enrolling directly with costly insurance carriers who can deny acceptance.  Small groups enjoy the option of allowing multiple employees to enroll in different plans based on their needs.

Insurance carriers are in the final process of obtaining their rate approvals from the New York State Insurance Department and will notify us once the rates have been approved.  The Amherst Chamber will pass the rates along to our members as well as post them on our website.

We encourage you to visit one of our Open Enrollment Information Sessions, which will be scheduled at various dates and times throughout the open enrollment period. Chamber members will be able to see an overview of the plans, discuss any potential changes to the benefit structure, get assistance completing the necessary applications to enroll or make changes, find out additional benefit options and receive answers to any questions in a confidential setting.

As the cost of medical insurance rises, the Amherst Chamber's group rates make for an attractive and cost-saving option. Last year, we helped small businesses save thousands in premiums while helping countless more select the right plan to avoid overpaying for necessary benefits.

The targeted dates for this year's open enrollment period are subject to change.  Please contact insurance benefits manager, Chris Solecki at 632-6905 or at csolecki@amherst.org to field any concerns or to discuss how the Amherst Chamber's group medical plans can benefit your business financially.
