Kick-off Event for Young Professionals Program

After receiving feedback from our members, we realized that the young professionals of the chamber did not have a program to call their own. To combat this, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce has established a new program called the Emerging Business Leaders. As you read last month, an Advisory Board was created to help develop this initiative for 2011 and beyond.

The goal of the group is to be a reputable resource for tomorrow's leaders, who are looking for personal growth and career advancement, through skill development, leadership training and the building of synergistic relationships.

The board will organize event throughout the coming year including guest speaker events, business spotlights and networking opportunities. They are also planning a monthly "Dinner with Local Business Leaders" gathering where a small group of young professionals will have the chance to dine with a business leader from the WNY region.

To kick-off the program, the board has planned an event on October 26th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Blu Martini, located at 424 Evans Road in Williamsville. At the event, the members will provide attendees with more information on their initiative and the events that are coming up in the next few months.

For more information on the group, their upcoming events and available sponsorship opportunities please contact Michelle McNamara, Member & Marketing Assistant, by phone at 716.632.6905 or via email at mmcnamara@amherst.org.

Chamber member firms with associates in this demographic are encouraged to attend the first Emerging Business Leaders event! More information and registration for this event can be found on our web site as well as our Facebook page.
