Charles M. Badger Joins Wendel as Transportation Project Director

Amherst, NY - The Wendel Companies are pleased to announce that Charles M. "Chip" Badger has joined Wendel's Public Transit Group as Transportation Project Director. Mr. Badger brings over 30 years of public transit experience, most recently serving as the Agency Director for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT). As client liaison for Wendel, he will be responsible for business development in the Southeast Region (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida), with a focus on the Mid-Atlantic.

In his role as Agency Director for Virginia's DRPT, Mr. Badger was responsible for an annual budget of $460 million for projects related to establishing, maintaining, improving and promoting public transportation, transportation demand management, human service transportation and passenger and freight rail transportation in the Commonwealth.

At DRPT he was instrumental in advancing the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project in the Washington, D.C. region. Mr. Badger assisted with the development and financial planning for the Virginia Railway Express, Northern Virginia's commuter rail system, and The Tide, Hampton Roads Transit's light rail system. Mr. Badger worked with Virginia localities to establish and expand over thirty transit systems and was responsible for the development and implementation of Virginia's first state sponsored intercity passenger rail service.



Mr. Badger is a Professional Engineer and holds his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland.
