Even though most people associate heart disease with men, it's also the leading cause of death among women. During American Heart Month, Catholic Health's HealthConnection is educating women in the community about heart disease and how to recognize the signs and symptoms with "Putting Heart into Your Health." Sign up today for this free class held on February 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Williamsville Diagnostic Center (400 International Drive, Williamsville). The most common heart disease in the United States is coronary heart disease, which often appears as a heart attack. In 2009, an estimated 785,000 Americans will have a new coronary attack, and about 470,000 will have a recurrent attack. About every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event, and about one every minute will die from one.
Registration is required for this free program and space is limited. For more information or to register for "Putting Heart into Your Health," call Catholic Health's HealthConnection at 447-6205.
