Maxie Carpenter, former Wal-Mart Vice President of Human Resources, will speak at Daemen College October 22 & 23, 2009. Carpenter's appearances at Daemen are a Collegiate Community Presentation, and are sponsored by Daemen College, Houghton College, and Roberts Wesleyan College.
Mr. Carpenter's talk on October 22, "The Path to Integrity: Why It's Littered With the Bodies of Executive Leaders," will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Social Room in Wick Center on the Daemen campus, 4380 Main Street, in Amherst.
His talk the next day, October 23, "The Dynamics and Influence of Growth and Change Upon Organizational Structure: Why It's Inevitable!" will begin at 7:30 a.m., will also take place in Wick Social Room, and will include breakfast and networking. Note: both Thursday's and Friday's events will be approved for HRCI (Human Resource Certification Institute) credit.

Maxie Carpenter is recognized for his expertise in the areas of Human Resources, Training & Communications, and store operations. During his twenty-seven-year career with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., he pioneered programs specific to creating simple and relevant operational processes, and assisted in the creation and implementation of mentoring, succession planning, and people measurement processes that helped identify Wal-Mart as world-class, relevant to the depth and quality of its management pool and the retention of its workforce.
Mr. Carpenter is also recognized as an accomplished public speaker and an authority on the subject of corporate culture; his areas of expertise include Human Resources; store operations; and Training & Communications.

From 2003 to the present, he has served as Senior Partner, Diversified Retail Solutions, LLC. From 2000-2003, he was founder and president of MVC Advisory Resource, Inc.
Mr. Carpenter began his 27 year career with Wal-Mart in 1973, in store field operations. During his long tenure with Wal-Mart, his career included Vice President of People (HR) and Training and Communications in both the Super Center Division and the Domestic Division; and Operations Coordinator for the store's Western United States region.
