Update on Public Affairs Council

On Friday, January 28, 2011, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce's Public Affairs Council hosted the Chamber's 2011 Annual Lunch.  Featuring the State of the Town Address by Dr. Barry Weinstein as well as the swearing-in of the Chamber's 2011 Board of Directors, the Luncheon also provided the perfect setting for the presentation of the 2011 Legislative Agenda.

This year long agenda will guide the Chamber's public policy positions and actions.  While aggressive, many of the items contained with the Legislative Agenda are achievable.  The Chamber's Legislative Agenda identifies regional, state, federal and local priorities.  None of our items request any financial appropriations - often a stumbling block for many initiatives.  Rather, our agenda items - if accomplished - will help streamline government operations particularly at the local level and create jobs and new investment in Amherst, Erie County and throughout New York State.
