Terminations

Overview

This workshop describes how individuals involved in the termination process need to be aware of important legal considerations.  It identifies practical actions of what to do and say and what not to do and say in an effort to reduce the risk of a lawsuit.

 

NOTE: This is a two part presentation spanning over both October 22nd and 29th. The material covered in the presentations will not be the same and it is recommended that you attend both workshops to get all the information Russo will be presenting.

 

Objectives

  • Familiarize themselves with various types of risky terminations  
  • Develop skills that help strategize before and after a termination
  • Prepare, plan  and execute termination meetings
  • Mitigate risk when considering a layoff

Bridget E. Russo, PHR

Bridget Russo

Bridget is a Senior HR Professional with over 15 years of progressive HR leadership experience.  She is an accomplishedstrategic planner and implementer.

Bridget utilizes her diverse skills in executing sound employee relations strategies, performance and talent management systems, employee program development, compensation program design and change management initiatives to help organizations prosper.  She has worked in public, private and non-profit settings. 

Before joining RT Dee and Associates, Inc, Bridget was Vice President of Human Resources for a private property and casualty insurance company. Ms. Russo created the HR function for the start-up including an aggressive strategic plan.  She played a critical role in growing and developing the company's talent and overall performance, making both competitive and attractive to investors, shareholders and potential buyers. Bridget created operational efficiencies by implementing Human Resources processes coupled with state of the art technology.  Bridget's strong employment law and overall compliance background reduced tremendous risk to the organization. As part of the core due diligence team, she helped support and transition the leadership and employees to a new culture and platform.

Early on in her career, Bridget spent several years as an Employee Relations Specialist for a major Healthcare System, and then a Corporate Human Resources Advisor for an International IT consulting firm, both located in Buffalo, NY.

Bridget holds a Bachelor's degree from Canisius College.  She is PHR certified by the National Society for Human Resource Management. Bridget has participated in many community projects such as United Way Day of Caring, Boys and Girls Clubs of WNY, and serving in the past for 6 years as Vice President of Personnel on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels of Erie County.
