Amherst Chamber of Commerce Seeks Nominations for Seats on its Board of Directors
The Amherst Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for open seats on its Board of Directors.
The by-laws of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce require notification to the general membership that individuals will be considered for nomination for a three year term on the Board of Directors by the nominating committee in September of each year.
The Nominating Committee, consisting of the Chairman of the Board, the Immediate Past Chairman and the President and CEO, will review all nominations and make recommendations to the Board for approval. A single slate will be posted in our October newsletter.
No response is considered a yes vote and the slate will be adopted in it's entirely with terms beginning January 1, 2009.
Any member in good standing seeking a nomination that is not selected by the Nominating Committee has the right to circulate a petition for the purpose of securing the signature of 10 members in good standing to be added to the slate.
A member in good standing is considered the representative listed on the membership application by the firm making the investment in the Chamber. Should this occur, a ballot will be forwarded to the entire membership for a formal vote. This has only occurred once in the past 27 years.
The Nominating Committee selects individuals for Board service based on a number of criteria including; industry diversity, size of business, geographic location and past participation in the organization.
To submit a nomination, please forward the individuals name and email address, the individual's professional title, firm name, size of firm (number of employees), industry or SIC code, address and phone number of the member firm and e-mail to cdipirro@amherst.org by September 12, 2008.
