Chamber Honors Eight for their Contributions to Small Business
On May 21, 2010, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce will honor eight individuals/businesses at the Annual Small Business Awards Luncheon. This year’s luncheon is being held at Classics V on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the lunch program will begin at 12:00 p.m. Erie Community College President Jack Quinn will be the Keynote Speaker at this year’s Luncheon. The Chamber’s very own President/CEO, Colleen DiPirro, will be serving as the emcee for the awards portion of our lunch.
The eight awards given out this year will recognize the Small Business Person of the Year, the Business Advocate of the Year, the Award for Excellence winner, Community Stewardship Award winner, the President’s Award winner, the Champions Award winner, the At Your Service honoree and the Sponsor’s Award winner which will be presented by First Niagara.
The 2010 Small Business Person of the Year is Bill McGowan, CFO of AccuMED. In his spare time, Bill also serves as an honorary small business advisor, ensuring that anyone who comes to him for help receives it. Bill is a promoter of small businesses and is always willing to provide advice or a helping hand whenever it’s needed.
The 2010 Business Advocate of the Year is Senator Michael Ranzenhofer. Senator Ranzenhofer has introduced two bills in the State Senate to help small business owners grow during this difficult economic period and co-sponsored an additional bill as well.
Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo will be presented the Award for Excellence for their efforts to provide affordable hearing aides to those in financial need through the “Dr. Ann Stadelmaier Hearing Aid Fund.” This year’s Community Stewardship Award will be given to David Homes for their work on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition where they built a new home for the Powell family of Buffalo. The 2010 At Your Service Award is being presented to Dash’s Market for their exemplary customer service and efforts to create a positive shopping experience. The President’s Award will be given to The Perfect Gift for their commitment to the community, especially during the aftermath of the crash of Flight 3407. The Champion Award will be awarded to Catherine Lucas of E-Media Studios for her willingness to promote small business both professional and personally.
First Niagara Financial Group is the sponsor of the 2010 Small Business Awards Luncheon. They will present their award to Banchetti by Rizzo’s. Banchetti by Rizzo’s commitment to remaining in the community is evident by their improvements and expansion of their current facility located on North French Road in Amherst, including the newly established Rizzottos, an upscale Italian fine dining experience as well as an expansion to their current banquet facility.
