Amherst Town Centre

A project by Benderson Development.

 Amherst Town Centre

The Amherst Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors and Advocacy Council are very much in favor of the proposed Amherst Town Centre by Benderson Development on Maple Road. Currently, the 34-acre piece of property (formerly the Gun Club )  includes a highly contaminated, environmentally hazardous Brownfield site; pays only $ 12,000 annually in property taxes; and is an aesthetic eyesore.

The proposal, the first of its kind in Western New York, is a "lifestyle center" that includes a walkable community with a unique mix of residential, commercial and retail facilities. This project uses $ 44 million in Private Sector investment - with NO Amherst IDA assistance. Once developed, the property will generate more than $ 1.6 million in tax revenue, including about $ 1 million to the Sweet Home School District, and is projected to generate $ 3 million in sales tax. The proposal also includes the multimillion dollar, private funded environmental cleanup of the contaminated Brownfield.

The Amherst Chamber is asking its members to support the sustainable growth of the community by supporting this project. To show your support, please take a few minutes to sign the attached letter to the Amherst Town Board. This letter can be faxed to the Town Board Members at (716) 631-7036 or mailed to:
