Public Policy-Ready For More?
Last month the Chamber asked why you should care about public policy. While we may have answered that question for now, the very nature of government ensures the answer will change tomorrow. This is why the Amherst Chamber of commerce is introducing a Public Policy e-newsletter in September.
Seemingly without notice, public policy has become a large part of our daily discourse. Because of the ever evolving nature of state and federal policies, it can be hard to individually keep track of the laws that affect you and your business. The Chamber hopes to erase some of the confusion for you through our new e-newsletter.
We will be including a rotating column from our public officials at all levels, giving you an inside track on how and why decisions are made by our elected leaders. The Empire State Development Corporation will also be a regular contributor to the public policy e-newsletter. They are in the midst of many alterations to the programs and incentives given to businesses throughout the State and we want to keep you aware of the many changes within their agency. The new e-newsletter will of course keep you abreast of all the work our active Public Affairs Council is doing on behalf of our members as well.
The public policy e-newsletter is meant to be an informative addition to our current communications with our members. If there is a specific topic or policy you are interested in knowing more about, please email ccampbell@amherst.org and we will do our best to include it in a future edition. If you have not already signed up for the public policy e-newsletter, please do so at the bottom of First Monday. You will also be able to sign up to receive our recently launched health e-newsletter there as well.
